Microsoft 365 for consumers before the start?

Microsoft 365 has been available to corporate customers for about two years. It is a bundle of Windows 10, Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility + Security and various additional services. Already at the end of 2017 I placed my bet that such an offer will also be available to private customers.

Microsoft 365

In the meantime, we have long known, but still half-officially, that such an offer is actually being worked on. At the end of 2018, Microsoft looked for employees working on the product by submitting a job advertisement . In January, Satya Nadella's plans were at least indirectly confirmed . It was interesting at this point, the admission of the Microsoft CEO, that the consumer last neglected, but this would change again (the hope I have probably, but I lack the belief).

Now, the first concrete harbingers of Microsoft 365 for Consumer. Two users independently discovered that their private Office 365 subscription suddenly became Microsoft 365.

Mary Jo Foley asked Microsoft and said that "there are currently no plans to rename Office 365". Whatever "present" in this context may mean.

Of course, what we see on the Twitter screenshots may also be a mistake, but of course one inevitably wonders if Microsoft 365 for consumer is now in the starting blocks and maybe in just under two weeks at the big Microsoft event in New York is presented.

I do not know, but where we are just so nice at the speculation, I still admit what I've heard: According to "Microsoft 365 Family" in the spring of 2020 to go to the start. Of course, even more exciting is the question of what exactly could belong to the scope of such a package. Office is self-explanatory, the also unannounced "Teams for Life" could also belong to it, besides it stands to the fact that many Microsoft services like Outlook.com, To Do, Skype or whatever are extended to Premium functions, for the one Subscription is necessary. I reckon that there will be such premium features directly in Windows 10, finally, Microsoft has been testing with the insiders for months intensively the ways to activate or deactivate sub-functions of Windows server side.

I can not imagine that Microsoft 365 will be more expensive than Office 365, but the latter is already selling too badly in the consumer sector. One will have to create incentives through additional functions.
