DeepL: Developers publish desktop app for Windows and Mac

The translation tool DeepL, which originates from Germany and is developed by the creators behind the well-known dictionary Linguee, is already an old acquaintance with us by I News Windows. Already at the end of August 2017, I introduced you to the new service for the first time and the reactions from the community were mostly very positive. Since then a lot has happened. Meanwhile, there is also a paid Pro version and the service can now translate entire files from Word and PowerPoint.

What the service has been missing to achieve the convenience of Google Translate or the Microsoft Translator, are self-contained extensions for the popular browser and its own application for the desktop. At least for this there is now a relief, because the Cologne-based company now provides its own programs for Windows and Mac (initially as a beta) available. The software has all the functions that are known from the website, and can basically be used free of charge. The limitations of the free version are similar to those of DeepL Pro, which can be activated via a link to the DeepL account.

If you want to try it yourself, you will find the download for the software here.
